    UNblessed (tm)
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
    I missed this: http://blog.livedoor.jp/akiman7/
an exhibition by Akiman that ends tomorrow, but have to babysit my parents in law while at Asakusa...
Am too damn out of touch lately! I missed an exhibition by Ippei Gyoubu in Shibuya recently too.

But I've updated my devart account with mucha art! http://bananakun.deviantart.com/ some recent, most from a time ages back. But all new!
Maybe this will help ease the karmic short-thrift I've incurred from the vengeful gods of drawing..

    Forgive meeeeeooooooorargh!

    YOU!
Yay! the world turns and today becomes next year! so unprofound!
Atm my fiance and her fiance are singing loudly and badly to japanese pop/enka/whatever songs sung 'live' in a dodgy marathon pre new years special.
It's cool! all ridden out with a strawberry and champag-ney slight buzz. taking it easy.

    Good shite from this year...
Discovered Modest mouse ( best damn thing that I've heard since the avalanches and the Gorillaz..)
Finished Zelda TP, bought Mario Galaxy..
Caught with old school friends, that visited here and also live here.
Had a huge-ass tax debt cancelled.
    and various!

    yay!

Next year, will draw more, hang more, play more games. get married and survive it.

    Happy new year's, youse.

    etadpu JL!
It pays to update regularly! Which is why I comepletely don't do it! yay!
Winter's apon Japan, it's kinda pleasant and the autumnal change is really something.. Back home it sort of goes green, brown, gone. Glad I got to see it..
Just completed Super Mario Galaxy, Shigsy really really has a golden touch, bless the guy. UMMM, I have a facebook account so if anyone wants to friend me, go crazy.
What else? not much art. I've found an artist that pretty much pulls off everything I was trying to do with drawing a year or two ago, so I feel like I need something new to work on. Getting married in sydney next year, should be fun.
Everthing else is fine, just getting on with it all.
Man. that felt like an email to a relative.
    yay!

And I have bought metric kilograms of artbooks and hoodies since I've been here..

    Crazy kids again
Heh. I continually take for granted how much english, proper and slang, is adapted/homogenized/bastardized into Japanese language use..
Last night on tv there was some basic variety show ( which kinda accounts for 60 % of tv here) a J-rapper told off a comedian by saying something like ‘Omae ga dissure yo? Dissu jyane- yo!’ .. ( Are you disrespecting me? Don't dis me!)
    Basically disrespect became dissu+re…
In about six months it’ll be extremely lame to say this, but evidently it’s kinda cutting edge now. Like ‘dondake’ was about six months ago.

    Just don’t mention Naui.

UMMMMMM, can anyone reccommend a decent webspace provider? that is maybe artist friendly? I don't know if there is necessarily such a thing.. It's been ages since I've had art online and that was always hosted free, finally figured I should get it myself..

sidenote, Danny, I got a chunk of art back from my girlfriend on the weekend, if the pics are in there, I'll get em to you. merely a month or two late...

    unabetted fan pageantry.
    Cora!
FF12 Revenant wings, suddenly old school fannish game lust smites me..
    http://the-magicbox.com/0704/game070422c.shtml
That's Bahamut in the top left, and babylonian arse-kicker Gligamesh in the top right.. The last ff game he was in was FF 9 I think.
And the game has a damn world map it seems, that actually lets you move around, instead of flit from location to location. Unheard of since, um, FF9!
(maybe next gen ff games don't really allow for them but I bloody miss zooming all over the shop in an airship)
yeah, it's not a trad rpg, but I'm wanting this game. Might even catch myself playing FF12 itself eventually..

    the late crown
Daaayum, everybody's updating. or updated. Nunnadat present continuous shite.
Humm, happy 2007 (missed the new year's boat and all..)
Had a damn rad new year's eve party, watched the sun come and a friend puke through his nose then proceed to climb in it a bit later. Playing through zelda ( on cube...)
UHMM, off to tokyo again this friday for another year and trying to catch up with as many people as I can and get everything in order.
    Sorry! no humourous anecdotes!
But last year was not too bad.

    EATING THE WORTHY
    HA HA!
On de weeksend I snagged two things that made me happy and tickled the thing in my stomach that likes art and drawing…
Dogs, Bullets and Carnage 1 ( though it’s kinda the second volume..)
This title's art has changed a hell of a lot in the time I’ve been digging it, and it only took 7 damn years to put out two tankobons.. but hell. Dogs 2, by damn!
    Okami, (official works?)
YEEHAW! This is a sweet ass super thick book with naught but art and concept work. I’ve yet to play the game and now know what the end bosses look like, but that’s no biggie..

Hmmmm, Capcom put out the best damn artbooks *. In the last month or so I’ve landed a Rockman dash complete works, Sengoku Basara 2 Complete works and now Okami..
They’re all completely art saturated and big things to lug back to Syd...
I wish, wish, WISH that SquareEnix would do the same, at least on a regular basis.

*But I’m not sure if I forgive them for nixing Clover…

P.S. I’ll be back in Syd on the 2nd of Nov.

    Consumerama
Hawt damn. Tokyo is for spending..
In the last week or so I snagged a red BAPE camo hoodie, a Creative zen 30 gig player, an ultra rad Rockman dash art book, Groundwork of Gunbuster 2 and other stuffs too..
The downshot being I’m a wee bit broke, but my credit card’s paid off and I’m thinking of heading to the Tokyo game show on sat…
Noooooow back to work on Keroro.

Tooooooo renew your 90 day visa period in Japan you have to leave the country, but that wasn’t the only reason I went to LA…
That’s a retarded intro to an entry, by damn! But I jetted off to LA all the same, visited my family there, My Dad, his wife, step siblings and my younger brother.. Um, it was un relaxing, but a holiday is at least two thirds rad, and I picked up som DS and GBA games I wanted to play in englais. ( and dayum, Mario title games there are cheap compared to Tokyo)
Gedo senki, the new Ghibli movie by Hayao’s whelp, was not too bad, it wasn’t the best either, but after re-reading the Earthsea books, it feels like he chopped and changed story elements to fit a nice movie time slot…
On that.. reading seems to be the main thing I’m doing here, tv is fun but incomprehensible, games feel like a kind of guilty pleasure and relentlessly buying shite is giving me much to drag back. I should be drawing by damn!
Aaaand so the sun sets on another boring LJ post. Without art, I possibly suck. Verily yea.

    Machines do not need love..
Aaaaah matendo.. That crazy kid Shigsy miyamoto persuaded me to f i n a l l y snag a DS ( in Hong Kong, cause they are a sonnovagun to find in Japan) That and The new mario game.. It's luvverly buying a new system, I know it's no big thing, but it reminds me of when I when I was a whelp buying a Super nintendo, an ice age ago..
And Nintendo is whispering to me of a shiny future. So as sure as a combi-load of radioactive evil monkeys will feck up when reverse parking, I'm gonna be playing Zeldas and Marios ( plus others..)when my teeth are falling out and Outkast rule Antartica.
    Yoshi's island 2? yeehaw!

    P.S.
I thought about titling this entry 'Shig heil' but that'd be tasteless. and lame. more so than it is already.

    Old old ooooooold
Haaaaahaa karmic type justicement! I worked through my second last weekend, but last weekend was A1 type fun…

There was a huge ( as in HYUUUUUUUUUUUUGE) art /design thing in Tokyo last week called Design festa, hundred and hundred of artists’ booths in 5 giant halls over two floors… There was illustration, painting, sculpture, crafts, cloths, installation, performance, buggerloads of stuff to see. Most people were selling stuff.. the preferred way seemed to be in postcard form for illo stuff, there were artbooks here and there, I snagged a new sketchybook by FSC I’m digging..
They’d opened up a wall in one hall and there was a heavy heavy metal concert going on, we passed a few hours later and saw a group MCing, they had a massive crowd and were quite damn good..
Seriously considering getting a booth there for next year. O’ course I need to start a drawing on my own time ( something I haven’t been able to do in the last three months..)

Hmmm, then on Sunday we cruised to green green Kichijoji and went to the Ghibli museum, this was something that would’ve done my head in many a year ago. There were rooms full of sketches and source material for most of his movies, and was rad to see how some of the movies began and how damn much they changed.
There was a short movie based in Ibarard, the world from Whisper of the Heart, created by a japanese painter called Naohisa Inoue. His work has so much imaginative detail in it that, swear t’gawd, it’s like worlds within worlds. ( My girlfriend bought some of his artbooks for my b’day)
T’was a good weekend. Take that, O’fiends that would traipse shit on my happiness!

    ZANGYOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hully shit.. working weekends has done my head in. I had a startling reveleation of no importance whatsofreakingever...
Drawing Tony chopper oh so many times and listening to Smapunk's Tonight Tonight caused the dawning of this revelation.. Billy Corgan is Tony Chopper.
Nay you say? well! you could be totally correct.

The only connection that provided this insight was drawing Chopper's hat and thinking about Billy's white top hat in the music video..yay!

Um, P.S. if anyone wants to get in contact wid me, then please
use uhohdojo at hotmail dot com. I have not been able to get into my LYCOS account for ages.

    Uppingdeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeto!
I need to do it at least semi regular...
Mayun, I want some more time... I've got heapsa freelance and a twenty pager for a good amigo's anthology on the boil, the week after next I'm prolly going to Beijing to do some character design/consulting stuff, Straight after that my girlfriend is coming here for week, then at Christmas I'm hanging in Japan with her for a couple of weeks. Arghgah. And weaving gaming joyness between all that via Shadow of the colossus. (which I sometimes dream about..)
    Busy is good yo.

And the Breath of Fire complete artbook is what an artbook should be, by damn.
    so so good.

    NO SHIT..
Maaaan.. I was screening through these images of the two new mana games
http://the-magicbox.com/0510/game051007b.shtml ( ahah! musbooms and rabites! yay!and the hero's feather headdress thing)
http://the-magicbox.com/0510/game051007a.shtml ( HOLY CRAP! a new sprite character. 14 years too damn late..)
Then I googled secret of mana for sheer nostalgic value and found this..
    http://www.seikens.com/copper/displayimage.php?album=random&cat=&pos=-101
It's a bloody gallery of seiken 2 art by goddamn Terada. Wheels within wheels within wheels!!!
Not really.. I was tripped to find this bunch of art ( I used to hate it cause I thought it wasn't cute or 'anime' enough) only to now find out it was by a powerhouse savant like Terada.
It's likely everyone but me already knew this. ah well.
